Once again Julie of Peonies & Posies and I were delighted to welcome our workshop guests into Julie's gorgeous garden for our Gather & Grow for Summer Workshop. This time we were joined by Kate Hargreaves of Tangle & Thyme, Lucy Hunter of Lucy Hunter Design, Rachel Slater of Owl House Flowers, Lindsay Lockhart and Adrian Wigan plus photographer Sarah George. We feel terribly honoured that our guests choose to come and spend time with us, some travelling considerable distances. It can be a lonely life as a flower farmer or florist and its wonderful to know that lovely friendships are forged whilst the flowery talk flows and that we all learn and feel reinvigorated by these exchanges.
Although we had a typical summers day, full of thunder, lightening, rain and thankfully, warm temperatures we managed to dodge the showers as Julie showed us her cutting garden and explained her rose growing philosophy.
We then enjoyed a lovely lunch al fresco sharing stories and ideas on how to encourage your garden to grow and produce lovely successional flowers to cut and enjoy. Eventually and finally, we had to drag ourselves away to the coach house where I had gathered together some wonderful summer blooms from mine and Julie's cutting gardens for our summer table centres. The growing season has been so odd this year we actually had ranunculus and roses - peonies and dahlias to choose from! I hope you enjoy what we did with them!
