The Cutting Garden Collective Workshop - A collaborative venture between Julie of Peonies & Posies and Brigitte of Moss & Stone
late 14thC., from old french ellebore, 'plant eaten by fawns'
Hellebores are possibly the most productive, stoic and elegant of plants, flowering for up to six months through the darkest days of the year bringing subtle, shy beauty and hope to our winter gardens. On this hellebore focused workshop, Julie and Brigitte will provide expert guidance on how to successfully grow these desirable flowers and other early spring stunners for cutting in your garden to then gather and enjoy in your home.
Taking place in the inspiring atmosphere of Julie's stunning cutting garden just outside Bury St Edmunds, you will receive a full day of practical and hands on guidance. With her many years of growing experience Julie will give you the skills and confidence you need to sow, plan and plant a gorgeous cutting patch of your own for a continuous supply of blooms to arrange and enjoy. She will show you around her garden, talk about her growing year, discuss various seed sowing techniques and how to successfully care for your hellebores.
After a delicious light lunch, Brigitte will demonstrate how to use some of Julie's gorgeous hellebores and other Spring delicacies to create a beautiful garden inspired arrangement. She will discuss both the practicalities of how to condition and care for your cut hellebores, which can be tricky, to maximise their vase life and her philosophy of letting the flowers and nature guide you when arranging. Then it will be your turn to have a go - you will forage for foliage and perhaps add a few bits from the garden to the carefully selected flowers that Brigitte will have waiting for you to arrange and to then take home and enjoy.
