How to capture the beauty of your work with fine art photographer Helen Warner and floral artist Brigitte Girling
After the success of our inaugural Art of Floral Photography workshop in Suffolk in Spring Helen and I are excited to bring you another class in the Autumn but this time in London.
Many of us struggle to truly capture the beauty of our work the way a professional photographer can. However, we all know that given the ephemeral, transient nature of our craft, a beautiful photograph is the only way to preserve our designs and collate a portfolio of our floral creativity, skill and intrinsic style.
If you would like to learn some simple, basic rules about using your camera effectively, understanding the role of light and how it works within your workspace or location to create photographs you can be proud of, then this may be the workshop for you!
We will begin the day creating a beautiful bowl arrangement using seasonal flowers and foliages. I will demonstrate how I create an arrangement and discuss some of my thought processes and then you will be free to design your own arrangement before a light lunch.
In the afternoon, Helen Warner, an extremely experienced fine art wedding photographer with a passion (bordering on obsession!) for flowers, will guide you through a simple process for framing and crafting a photograph of your work for your portfolio, thinking about light, positioning and story telling.
You will not need a ‘posh’ camera, an iphone or equivalent will be fine. Although the idea of the day is to inspire confidence and encourage you to move away from relying on phone pics in the future! If you do have a fancier camera, Helen will help you understand the basic principles of good photographic technique and how to break away from those automatic settings! Then all you will need to do is practice, practice, practice!
